Hi all,
It’s been a while!
This is a “Journey Chest” I made for my elder brother. This is a chest which would contain information about how your life progressed and unfolded by selecting items from your life’s journey for successive generations to read’
All of us progress through life performing feats of great merit, which we never see as that great. This box allows collection of evidence of the struggles we all go through to make life seem easy to our families. It gives us presence in the lives of future generations.
I have made one each for my two elder brothers and in the fullness of time. one for me and my wife.
This box is 750mm long x 420mm wide and 450mm deep. It contains seven trays which can be used in any way the owner decides to store his/her information.
The timbers are:
Carcass and most of the trays: Beautifully figured and grained Tasmanian Blackwood
Long tray which spans the interior length of the chest: Quilted Tasmanian Myrtle.
Lid panels: Black Heart Sassafras showing a beautiful pattern.
Hardware: Hinges handles and lid stays are solid English brass.
Hope you enjoy the pics.
Regards,
Rob
