Just in time for Christmas, but not in time for the sweepstakes.

A friend of mine asked me if I could install some shelving to support a train track around his son's room before Christmas.  It just so happened I had a couple do days last week to do it.

Materials used:  two sheets 3/4 mdf, a roll of iron on edgebanding and a couple of pine brackets.  Festools used:  ts55 for breaking down sheet goods, Trion to cut the corner pieces, c12 and CXS.

The best part was seeing his son run full tilt home from the bus on the second day of the project because he knew he was goin to be able to set up the train when he got home.

Sweet project!  How did you attach the shelf supports to the wall?

Thanks guys!

Shelf supports are pocket screwed to the studs with 2 1/2 screws.  I had originally planned on using many more brackets, but once I installed the corner pieces and got some of the straight pieces attached to them, I realized that the corner pieces were acting as a cantilever.  The door and window trim acts as a great support as well.  So after talking with my friend, he decided that less brackets would be fine.

As far as installing the lights, I predrilled holes so he could run the lights and accessories with his son.
He also  just called me this morning and said he "sold a couple of more train shelves" for me over the weekend!

Really a fun project.

Jon, how did you attach the corner units to the wall? It is not apparent in looking at the pictures. The whole installation looks very good but you must have secured the MFT to the walls in some fashion to hold the weight of the train.

The  corner pieces are also pocket screwed into the walls.  Very secure, there's at least four screws in each corner piece.  I know it doesn't sound like it, but it is
