Just noticed this on ToolNut

It'll be interesting to see if they expand the range to the table saws, etc.

I'm having second thoughts regarding Mafell (like the tools, don't like the company). The DD40 combined with its template system is pretty cool. Festool are missing out by not offering a decent way to use the Domino accurately across the face of a board.

The boss promised me an Erika for Christmas if I am good all year long, hopefully they will stock them by then.

Heck, I don't know why I am either, I have to be "good" to qualify...

Very impressed by the range of accessories you guys rock! I was hoping another US supplier would drive down price but if I were to carry the line as the second us distributor I'd be hard pressed to undercut too. It's a big step in the right direction though because now we know timberwolf doesn't have sold rights to distribute anymore.

[member=20320]rizzoa13[/member] if I read between the lines a little, I'm guessing Mafell must have woken up recently in terms of the market outside of Europe. Years ago, when I enquired about Mafell tools for use in Australia, I was given a blunt response and told to deal with Timberwolf US. Not a positive interaction. Mafell today actually acknowledge that Australia exists as a country on their website .. not that they actually have a reseller/distributor. Maybe it's time to simply assume the person I had dealt with at Mafell back then was a fool and give them another try. I really do like a few of their tools.

They seem to be old school in their dealings with the public but having tool it be the distributor is huge for me as their customer service is phenomenal. It could really work out.

My issue with Timberwolf was they don't stock much and get a delivery from mafell every month or so. I had to wait 6 weeks to order some new sliding table brackets for my Erika. I could've learned to smelt in that time frame and mined my own ore...

Wow, I heard about this directly this afternoon and here it is plastered on the FOG already.

Guess I shouldn't worry about keeping a secret now.

By the way, based on my conversation with Shane they will be ramping up in time after initially stocking the most popular items.

Sounds kinda weird to be mentioning Shane in a Mafell thread but I guess I'll get over it.  [scared]

This is such incredible news. This has made my day. Love a lot of my festool tools but the dd40 is one of my favorite tools. Looking to add a few more Mafell in the coming months so this timing could be perfect.

Awesome!!  Way to go Tool Nut!  More options = good.  More good options = bestest!  :)

Kev as a company they are not to like or dislike, it is not like you are bedding down with them and eventually splitting the house. Same with lamello. Their tools are top shelf, but I do not know what they are like a people, nor do I care. I do not want to try their customer service and the tools I get have a lower rate of failure.

Shipping is cheaper for 2 or 3 Erikas... Let me know when you're ready.
They need to go to a port to be reasonable, or the shipping ratchets up. I was going Adelaide, maybe I'll select Perth, and do another drive.
