Went to cut some crown this morning and noticed the alignment arrow on my Kapex 120 doesn't line up with the detents. I made some test cuts on scrap and the detents seem square so I'm guessing the plastic arrow is out of alignment. That seems more likely than the degree scale moving. Anyone see this? How would you address it? I know i can adjust the plastic guide as well as the detent scale itself.

Wasn't like this last time I used it.[attachimg=1]

I don’t have the Kapex, but like my DeWalt miter saw, the miter gage is a stamping that can be calibrated.

On page 25 of the owners’ manual it shows how to adjust the detent stamping.  They show on page 24 how to calibrate the saw with a complex series of cuts.

The main reason I got the DeWalt saw was because the detents were in a metal stamping which is vastly more accurate than the “as cast” detents on the other saws I looked at.

At any rate the detents are adjustable (a good thing) and sometimes with get out of adjustment due to hard knocks (a bad thing).  On the whole, a good system.  My saw does not have the half degree vernier like the Kapex.  A nice feature.

The manual is linked below.  Pages 24 & 25.https://www.festoolusa.com/-/media/...s/manuals/kapex-ks120-supplemental-manual.pdf

Hi Greg,

Since you said the stamped detent plate seems to still be properly calibrated, you should be able to adjust the plastic pointer by simply loosening the small silver screw directly above it (is it already loose?), position the pointer to an appropriate location, then tighten the screw.

As Packard suggested, I ended up doing the 4 cut calibration test on page 25 of the Supplemental Manual. I did it a few times. Average deviation on my Kapex was around .04, better than the factory spec of .16. So I adjusted the plastic arrow to match the detents.

Thank you both for your kind responses.
