Hi,

I've had a Kapex 120 REB for about a year. Probably used it once or twice as I'm only a DIYer.

About 2 seconds after pressing the trigger the power fades and cuts out.

Am I being dumb? Cuts perfectly well if I can get it done in the 2 seconds laser works also.

There's quite a bit of oil that has seeped out the bottom of the plastic housing during storage, could this be a problem?

Thanks,
Ben

Thanks, I figured as much so called them straight after. Shipping crate soon to be inbound I hope!

After reading this I glanced at ours in the shop, I noticed we have a decent amount of oil around the plastic motor housing. Nothing I am worried about looking around the shop at some of the other machinery. It has been working nearly daily for years, I would not stress about that. The saw works great and is very accurate.

Weird one. Checked saw this morning and it worked fine... I've cancelled the collection to save wasting festool's time.

It'll get a full day workout tomorrow, will see how it performs then.

Cheers,
Ben.

Glad it’s working again [member=69450]_Ben_[/member]  and hope it works for many more years.  Like you I am a DIYer.  I have had my Kapex 5+ years it’s been great so far.

No further problems to report, worked flawlessly all day. It saved me loads of time cutting 2x4, very pleased with its accuracy.

I thought I would update this thread. Unfortunately the machine started to play up again on the next job. I noticed an uncomfortable amount of earth leakage through the body and the blade would run at inconsistent speed or stop unexpectedly.

Festool UK very quickly dealt with it, gave be a shipping create to send it back and UPS morning collection/delivery. All in all they had it about four days.

Needed a new "end shield" and "brush holder with brushes", bit weird given how little use the machine has had - must have been a bad one out of the factory?! Just need to unpack it and give it a dry run.

Cheers,
Ben.
