I'm giving some serious thought to the Kapex 60 and have two questions that I'm hopeful some of you may be able to answer.

1 - Does the Kapex come with 4 holes in the base so I can bolt it to standard Mitre stands?

2 - Does the LED shadow light shine through to the wood when the blade guard is in place, ie can I line up my cut without having to lower the blade to remove the blade guard to show the light.

With lasers this is easy but I've used the Dewalt and you have to lower the blade to see the shadow line which makes the system pretty redundant as I might as well just lower it onto the wood.

Q1 Yes

Q2 Have no idea at this stage. I have been using mine outside cutting decking since purchased and the light is next to useless in Aussie Autumn daylight. I have switched it off. It would probably be satisfactory when inside [or under UK cloud cover [smile]].

I purchased the kit as I wanted the angle finder. The kit came with the rubber feet that raises the height to a Sys 1. I have installed these.

Other than that I am extremely impressed so far. Accuracy is excellent as is Dust extraction.

Anyone able to throw any "light" on the Kapex light question?

" Does the LED shadow light shine through to the wood when the blade guard is in place, ie can I line up my cut without having to lower the blade to remove the blade guard to show the light."

Thanks

[member=43879]DiscoStu[/member] - I think there's another review around here in which it's said that the blade has to be lowered almost to the wood in order for the shadow line to be seen.

Reviewer was less than impressed with the feature.

The problem is that due to diffraction the further the blade is from the workpiece the blurrier the shadow lines will be, so only when the blade is close to the workpiece will you get clearly defined shadow lines.
