i know everyone is wondering about the  kapex w deal but is regular kapex available? Thinking about buying. Would love the wings etc but too much for me now.

Yes.  i pre-ordered the promo, and ended up cancelling it. When i cancelled the promo deal, i  ordered the stand alone SKU's for kapex, kapex stand and extensions and got it in 4 days from my local dealer. Had to do it this way as i sold my bosch knuckle miter saw before promo was officially delayed. So there is stock, just not the "promo" price stock.

Kapex plus UG cart and wings. $2000 USD if I remember correctly? $500 discount off the hot dog kart and wings.

Is the cart/wings worth it?  All my work is mostly at the house and I’d either use the saw in the shop where I could make a bench with t-track, rule, stops, etc. or I’ll take the saw outside to keep dust out there since my Dewalt makes a mess.  Is the base/wing combo worth the money?

Unless you plan to use the cart and wings instead of using a saw station, it'll cost you not only more money but also space to keep them. With the Kapex (and its dust collection capability ), there'll be no more need to use the saw outside!

Edit: If I had the shop space, I'd build and use a saw station because under the top, I could build storage drawers, etc. The space under the wings is largely wasted.

And if I wanted to do some side jobs in the future does the cart and wings ever go on sale?

The combo deal is really attractive (and sounds like you're already falling victim to the promo!  [big grin] [tongue] [big grin]).

Even if I had the space and were thinking about a future side job (with an unknown timeframe), I would still not buy it now because I could buy second hand when I do need it. More importantly, I hate to see tools and accessories sit idle collecting dust for years.

If I were you, I'd get the combo, but not build a saw station to avoid function duplication. Use the time for building a saw station to build projects. Some users don't like the legs for the wings, but many assert that the set-up is rigid and solid. I only used the set-up once in a showroom (carpet floor), and am not an expert on that aspect.

I purchased my Kapex 6 years ago and adapted it to a Milwaukee miter saw stand that I used with my various Milwaukee miter saws over the years. I've been very happy with the results because it's pretty compact.

Recently however, I've had the need to cut many pieces to several repetitive lengths...that's been a serious issue with the present setup. I also don't have the room to construct a 15' long miter station.  I'm thinking the UG cart and extensions may be the answer. The Kapex can stay on the cart with a small footprint and then I can attach the extensions when I really need them. The UG cart would also allow me to bring the Kapex outside if needed and will be easier to move up the basement steps. That UG is looking like a better option every day.  [big grin]
