Kapex blade shield

Hi all,

My lovely wife used my Kapex several weeks ago, had a nasty kickback and proceeded not to tell me. I went to use the saw today and the blade shield would not move and there is some sort of spring hanging near the arbor. I'm looking for some assistance putting it back together. I've looked at the exploded view but cannot figure out where and how the spring attaches to the shield.

You appear to be missing a part, or perhaps it is wedged within the hood and is the cause of the blade guard not working? Part 13

That spring does not control the clear shield. It retracts the black plastic part #13 in the illustration. If the clear shield won't go up it could be the result of pieces that blew apart and wedged it. That's exactly what happened to one of my kapex. I've yet to replace the part with fear of it happening again.
