A piece of wood shot up the back of the blade and something broke [sad]
I called festool who said i need to fill in an online form to get it repaired so I have gone to fill in the form and it says I need a copy of my warrenty info
I thought the service was supposed to be quick and easy, why can I not do this from  "my festool" where i filled in all my details when i bought the saw
If i have a problem with my nailguns I call them tell them what site i will be working on the next day and they collect the gun
With my kapex I have just tried to fill in a form which is temperamental and will not let me fill in some areas and will not send, I have to now print it, find my original warranty which i do not have a clue where it is, put the kapex in a box - Im not going to find a suitable one very quickly,  then find a time when someone can be in for it to be collected. this could take a week just to get it sent off

totally frustrated!!!

I've kept my box just incase.

I'm sure they have special kapex transport cases that they send out but maybe that's a US thing

All you do is call festool UK or a festool rep  they will send a box out next day for you to stick your kapex into and then they often pick up the kapex the same day.

The annoying thing is they don't tell you when they are going to send the box or when they are going to pick up they just do it and expect you to know.

I have had to send my kapex of twice over the years and it has been very quick and easy.  No form filling in.    Contact your dealer would be a good way to go.

Thanks I will give the dealer a try, its just frustrating when you need a tool and can not get it sorted quickly as i said if it was a nail gun or one of my hiltis it would be collected from site tomorrow [crying]

Was it the plastic pice behind the blade? if so i used it like that for a while, after I was told that plastic was not covered under the warranty.

On your my festool app see that little button send again?
Press that and you will get your guarantee certificate sent again.

It is the plastic inside the blade housing that is connected to the guard and the plastic that holds the boot, the blade is jammed against it now

Thanks!

You would think that you could send a request straight from my festool though to save all the repeat data imput [crying]

I had this happen.  I'm in the U.S.  They sent me a box.  It was under warranty, and they repaired it without any problem.  My only beef is that they charged me for a screw or washer that was missing when I took a piece off and lost the washer when I put it back on.  I thought that was a bit goofy.

I believe there are threads about the small piece being shot into the back.  I've found that if I let the blade stop before I lift the head, the pieces shoot back up.  If I lift the head before the blade stops, the teeth grab the scrap and I risk shooting it out.

That is what has happened, they came with a box and picked it up but it has not come back yet.

I had an issue with hilti today and it was sorted within an hour [big grin]

Maybe someone needs to make and market a zero clearance insert for the rear of the guard.  ;D
