Just purchased a pair of Festool's Crown Stops With Base Extension, Item Number: 494369 to use with my Kapex.  When I set them up on the saw, and tightened them into place, they are not flush with the table of the Kapex.

Anyone else have this issue?  Is there a simple and accurate fix to get this crown stop base perfectly flush with the base of the Kapex?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Eiji, he found a simple fix, see his solution below.

Yes,
I think they are all like that. Your crown extensions are just a bit lower than the base, yes?

The simple fix I did was to remove the 3 screws that attach the plastic piece that fits into the v-groove on the saw table. I then added a double layer of card stock. There are posts around where the screws attach that you have to cut holes around in the shim stock. Reattach the screws and the extensions are now flush with the table.

It took me about 5 minutes.

Hope that helps,

Eiji

Are they supposed to sit just below the base?  If they are what purpose would that serve? If there not I'm really puzzled as to what has happened with this saw.  Especially with the price tag associated with it you shouldn't have to shim anything.

They're not suppossed to sit below the base, they should be flush with the Kapex table.  I agree, for what we paid for the Kapex all these issues (and I've faced several) should not be present.

i was about to purchase this item too, what is going on with this kapex, several issues and now the accessory is not sitting as it should?  i understand i can fix this easily by shimming to level height with table but for $85 accessory and $1300 saw i should not have to do any of this.  what concerns me more is all the money i have tied up in this saw what happens when festool finally does fix everything and gets it right are they going to provide new saws to all the original people that stuck with it, if no we should all send these back and wait for all the fixes - sean

Regardless of the selling price every tool or system has assembly tolerances. In my case, the crown stops are about .005" below flush. I think this is very acceptable and certainly better than having them above the saw table as that would skew the work. My take regarding this is that Festool wanted the stops to be flush or lower than flush. It is unrealistic to believe they could make them exactly flush all the time, no matter when they were made, no matter what saw they went on, etc. Below flush is better than proud, IMHO.

if you hold them flush while you tighten them they will be flush  but i returned the whole thing today anyway

I'm thinking about sending mine back as well.  Is the 30 day guarantee from the time of purchase?  I ask because I'm on saw number 2 which I've had for less than 30 days but I orginally purchased the saw about 7 weeks ago.

This is a good question, call Festool or your dealer. Please report back with your findings.
