And another one in albany / el cerrito for $900 cash. No affiliation with either party, etc, etc.

Dont know why he would sell it so cheap.  In any case not answering emails.

Regarding the other one, why would one pay the full retail form a private party?  When you can buy from a regualr retailer for the same price, mail order if you dont want to pay tax (yeah I know you are supposed to declare "use tax")

For you folks in other parts of the country, you can't imagine the impact of our 8.25% sales tax in California. Selling an unused item for the new, retail price minus the tax is a real incentive when you near the $1000 mark.

All 5 pieces of my Festool equipment were purchased from Don Cope in Atlanta. He ships for free and I avoid the tax. I see other Festool sales reps mentioned here. To me, Don Cope - who teaches furniture-making at the university level - provides hands-on counseling on my tool needs.

8.25%? Imagine it? Heck that ain't nuthin! The serfs living in the Peoples Republic of Chicago are paying 10.25%! Luckily, I fled Crook County years ago, but sadly their politics are invading the collar counties and putting us under pressure. I guess now with the current change of Federal administration we will all be citizens of Crook County to some degree? Cash is King in this recession and Craigslist has been like shopping at WalMart.

Yeah Woodenfish Cook county is expensive.  I have a friend who lives in LA and cries, Chicago cost more than LA to live in! Ever get gas downtown. I stopped working there, it cost me more than 50.00 a day just to park, get gas and lunch.

Hey he my dealer too.  Just to be picky, he is located in Athens, Georgia.  He does extraordinary work with metal, particularly stainless steel.  Take a look at his website to see what I mean (http://stalror.com).  He sells metal working tools too, and it is pretty much guaranteed, that if he sells a brand, you aren't likely to find anything better.

Gary,

Governor Arnold Terminator just proposed a 1.5 % increase in sales tax, bringing it to 9.75 %.

I'm reluctant to wave the flag, but I just assembled an entire shop (in a new structure) from scratch, and among all the people I talked with about WWing  ---- from eBay, to Craigslist, at woodworking shows, about 4-dozen equipment manufacturers  -- Don Cope was among the 2 or 3 most professional, experienced machinery salespersons. I retired and spent 3 years setting up a shop, and Don Cope was stellar in the way he helped.
