I have a 45 day old Kapex. I am a weekend warrior and this is the third time I have used the saw. Today an issue arose.

When I push the safety and pull the trigger the blade will not spin. I can cycle it many times and it will eventually work. Before I send it in for service is there something obvious I am missing?  It is plugged into an outlet with a 25' #12 extension cord. I did not have it plugged into my CT 36 at the time.

I am in the US with a 110v version. I have read the motor failure issues but I am not aware if they die completely or work intermittently.

I have to say this is a damn fine saw otherwise and quite the upgrade from my Dewalt SCMS that was about 10 years old.

it's not looking like much of an upgrade.dont count on it lasting 10 years probably only about a third of that.. As it becomes to costly to have repaired out of warranty.

It sounds like possibly a faulty switch.  Do the lasers turn on?  Have you tried it without the extension cord to remove that as a potential factor?

You could try to engage and then disengage the arbor lock, as it interferes by design with powering up the machine.
Maybe it isn't fully in 'unlocked' position?

My thought also, it's the green recessed knob (FastFix) on the upper LH side of the Kapex. It actuates both an electrical & mechanical lockout system and as Gregor said, it may not be fully rotated to the disengaged position.

I grabbed a new cord and turned the fast fix switch a few times. So far no more issues. That may have been the problem. Thanks to All b

Of the first nine posts in this section two are about dead kapexes and a third is about one that starts intermittently. I understand this section deals with problematic tools but that's $4,500 of saws that don't function or do intermittently. I do get it that all companies produce miter saws that have problems, but they are not charging close to $1,500. My old Dewalt 703 Type 3 was still working like new when I up graded. It was at least 15 to 20 years old.

To be fair it sounds like a "plug-it" issue.
But I wonder if the "plug-it" have some non-linear 'diode type' of effect that is causing the issues with the saws??

Re Plug It.
It is my understanding [although I do not own one and given the number of negative FOG Threads, probably never will] that the Kapex is fixed lead. Still could be lead though!

You are correct...no Plug-It on the Kapex.
