I do not own a Kapex and was curious: If put on a bench, with a hose connected, how far does the saw need to be from the wall to be able to comfortably use? I suppose the depth of the worktable to support the feet of the Kapex is the easiest way to describe it.

I have a non-sliding saw and for me to build my garage/shop bench it would be helpful and may help me justify getting one.  [smile]

Thanks a lot.

The rear of the saw only needs to be about 50mm I think to avoid the  plastic cord storage hitting the wall if you swing the saw round.   If you are never going to rap your cord you can remove the cord storage and get even closer

The front of the saw base only needs a 600 mm deep bench  top  to support the  kapex.    This is all just from memory I will have to check the clarifiy.

If the back of the saw is against a wall then it cannot be turned for angled cuts. Remember that at the very front of the saw you have the mitre lock lever, this is about 77cms from the back. I have installed a back board behind my Kapex, attached to the Kapex bench, that means that I do not get a build up of dust behind or under the Kapex bench - this may sound like a small thing but it is a great help, especially during cleanups.

Just threw that saw bench together in an afternoon eh Peter?  [eek]

Beautiful oak bench, shop, and are those solid wood repetitive stops?!

Looks great!

The 'oak' bench is actually some left over formica covered kitchen work top - I use all the left overs for most of my bench tops as it resists a lot of abuse. Before I discovered Festool I used to use a piece of aluminium 'U' section as a guide for my circular saws. I no longer need it and so I have used it to make my saw stop system. I have an oak slider (which you can see in the picture) which is held in place by the screw-knobs. It is easily removed when required and there is an identical one on the far side. The whole bench is on heavy duty castor wheels and can be moved around when required.
