Can you buy the angle / corner measuring thing separate from the kapex set?  How much?

How about the material clamp? How much?

There is a kapex on Craig's list without these for $980.  Worth it?

Festool 494370 Kapex Miter Saw Miterfast Angle Transfer Device $166

Festool 494391 Kapex Miter Saw Replacement Hold Down Clamp $81

I'd want to know the history .. based on the issues discussed with some of the 110V models it may be a KAPEX at the end of an owners patience!

Who knows though, it could be perfect too [smile]

$1470 for a new Kapex with a return period and a full warranty. $980 for the used Kapex plus $166 and $81 for the missing parts. So, you save $243. I guess you have to first, examine the saw to make sure it is in good condition. Warped fence pieces and misaligned beds seem to be the most prevalent problems. If everything is straight and flat, I'd want to make a 90 degree cut and a 45 degree cut and test those for accuracy. I'd want to see that the saw moves smoothly in each axis and locks hard when set. If all is right, the decision comes down to if giving up the return period and the warranty is worth $243.

I saw this same ad, the guy that posted it deals in used tools. The last Kapex he sold for $1200 but it had all the stuff.

So I search for Festool on Craigslist a lot, what's the big deal... :)

If and/or when the armature burn out on the Kapex you will need to pay about $800 to fix. (google the problem it happens alot).
If you add this potential cost to the cost to buy a new unit then your into the saw for about the same price as a new one.

Save yourself the risk and headach and get the Bosch glide----their motors dont go up in smoke, and if they did they will not cost you $800 to fix.

Just saying......

I have a bit of a weird thing about buying 2nd hand festools (in fact all power tools really)

but only having cut 2 boards and with you being a member of this forum I would snap your hand off!

all this bad Kapex talk has me worried. I bought one and have only cut 2 boards with it as we moved and living in a rental till we find a house. Thinking of selling it and going bosch. A saw of this price should last 20 years. My dewalt was 15 years old and worked fine and sold it when I bought the kapex. Are the newer saws any better than the 4 year old models.

The bosch glide is a nice saw. To bad the one i got the table was not level. I took it back and checked the floor model and same thing. The left side of the table was slightly lower then the turret. The turret itself was perfectly flat.

I ordered the Kapex. I have not received it, but hopefully its perfect.

There are far more happy KAPEX owners than upset ones.
