My Kapex 120 EB won't start at all any more. For a while before this it would slow down a lot while it was running. It's over 10 years old, way out of warranty, worked fine until about a year ago when it developed the "slow down" problem.
I replaced the brushes on the recommendation of a friend who does some tool repair. Still won't start. I also checked with a multimeter and found that I have power to internal connections of the black and white conductors where they enter the tool housing (120v) and have power to the connections on the brushes (60v to each of them, measured relative to the white conductor -- is that the voltage they should have?).
I have spoken with Festool and they said that, without seeing the tool they couldn't give me any guidance and that the average cost of repair on a Kapex is about $600, could be less or more depending of course on exactly what they find.
I would like to try some more things on my own and am asking if anyone would please suggest what they would try next. Thanks for your help.
