Recently purchased a portable VacPad system, very impressed thus far. I need to order some additional fittings and hose on a time crunch.

Does anyone know the macro line hose (OD and ID) that comes standard? I think the fittings are 1/4" npt thread - can anyone confirm this? TIA

Do you have more info on the system?  Not sure what festool uses but 1/4 id reinforced tubing is pretty popular with 1/4" barb fittings.  I would like to see the system you bought though.

VacPad

More on his YouTube channel.

Its been great to watch the evolution of this system. Black Friday came around and I finally bit. I got the Portable version plus an extra pad (for less than just one Vac-Sys Clamping Unit) Looking to print a mount for the mft. He's doing really well with this - think hes taking a a small step back from carpentry to focus on VacPad.

Never mind I found it.  HERE is a link.  These are very similar to what I use.  The fitting used in the photos show the push to connect fittings.  I will warn you those type of connectors are prone to leaking.  Vacuum is tricky with connectors.  Coupled with the fact that vacuum is slower to recover.  I have used the push to connect fittings with compressed air and even though they will still leak but with C.A. its not as big of a deal when you are using a bigger compressor.  But with vacuum it causes my vacuum pump to cycle every minute or 2 even with a small leak.

They come in a bunch of sizes both metric and imperial.  Based on quick glance it looks like either 1/4 or 6mm It might be stamped on the small black collar on the fitting.  8mm and 4mm are also popular sizes.  but it looks like its closer to the 6mm range based on the photos.

You can buy the tubing on amazon search for tailonz pneumatics.

I just went through since I had a bunch of the tubing running through out  the shop (probably close to a 100') with several push to connect T's and Wye's and just went through and switched a lot of it out to the 3/8od/1/4id and barb fittings.  This has fixed my cycling issues. My pump stays on 24/7 so unless I have something hooked up to it such as a vacuum bag or valve it never cycles.  However I just noticed the other day the Valve I use to toggle the vaccum on/off for my clamping pods which also has push to connect fittings on it is now leaking.  So I just ordered some QA fittings from veneer supplies so I can swap out the remainder of these push connect fittings.

Also not sure how reliable those ball release valves will be.  But the portable unit looks like it has a small 12v pump on board that is going to run constantly anyways so unless the leak is more than what the pump can supply its not going to matter since there is no pump to cycle.

Please report back on how you like the system after some use.  The fittings and those ball release valves look problematic based on my vacuum experience.

Keith went over the Kouro's kit pretty well here, it starts at the appropriate time in the video.

As I suspected based on the photos under the accessories page the fittings are stamped with what size they are see here for an example. If you look real close it has 1/4 stamped on it.  However some of the other photos show 6mm so not sure which you ended up with or why he didnt stick with just one size. but thats a quick way to check what size tube you need.  6mm tube on amazon is about $11 for 32'

Hi, we used a lot of these for air systems they were color coded the push end white or gray metric and red or orange sae.think they still are. nice little system.

Yes those are what I'm referring to as push to connect fittings.  Based on my experience they start off good and leak free but after a year or two Im developing leaks.  As mentioned with compressed air its not a big issue the leaks are very small and dont cause a lot of additional cycling issues.  With my vacuum pump however it makes a big difference and even a small leak will cause the pump to cycle on/off every minute.  Its 100% where the tube fits into the fittings it does not leak at the threads at all.  If I grab the tube and wiggle it I can hear the leak increase or decrease.  So I looking to eliminate the remainder of any of these things I guess.  These fittings are the Achilles heel of my system.  Its a shame since I love the ease and flexibility and low bulkiness of them but cant deal with the leaks.

I just ordered some of theseearlier today to try out.  I need/want some type of quick attach fittings.  If anyone has input on better fittings Im all ears.

Hi, we used Parker Legris self sealing pneumatic, for large bag houses, outside held up well in all conditions. @parker hannfin. guy

Automationdirect.com carries anything one could possibly need for line and fittings, including metric.
