Looking for some general feedback on the K5 with the self adjusting clamp.

And some specific measurements ...............

How tall is the unit without the drilling block inserted? In other words what is the minimum height when standing on a surface?  I want to know if it will fit under something.

What is the length of the base without the handle / lever?

Thanks,

      Seth

I hope the picture of our K- set-up shows up in this reply.
we mounted the K-5 and its outrigger supports on a small MDF panel to keep it all handy in one piece and one place.

With 20mm holes bord on 96mm centers we have holes to hang it up for wall storage but, more importantly, attach it to an MFT/3 overhanging to save worktop space as you can see. We used our brand new flush-top SmartConnect Dogs with a couple of SpeedKnobs below for rock solid support.

As you can see from the piccture the height of the blue molded K-5 assembly appears to be around 6 inches or so.  It sounds like you are concerned about storage height - how much vertical space do you to fit it in? is this for your truck - mobile?

I can check ours and get you the actual dimensions in the morning.

Hans

Hans, can you provide a larger picture?  I can't see the dogs at all.  I use this machine pretty regularly and having a nicer way to set it up sounds cool.

Seth, here are a couple of shots with a tape on them.  Without the drilling block, the height is right at 4-7/8".  Sorry the pictures aren't great but my eyes stop working around 2100 every night..

Thanks for the measurements that's what I needed.  Might be incorporating it alongside my miter saw fence. Wanted the measurements to figure if it will interfere. I have the older (K3 ?) front handle model. Wanted to see how it sized up vs that one.

How about the clamp function on the K5 ...............  is it good?

  Thanks,

Seth

It worked great initially and still does fine but I just have to futz with it sometimes.  There is a process to set it up with the thickness you are using.  Essentially you start the clamp until you hear 1 click and then a second click.  I have never gotten that to work for me.  I just play with it every now and then.  If it broke, I would replace it in a heartbeat with the same unit.  I have already gotten my moneys worth.

[member=71333]seth[/member] Semenza  - I measured our K-5 today (without the storage boxes on either sides):
base: 4.75" Wide x 11" long over the raised Lever.
Height: 5.25"

[member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member] - I re-sized yesterday's picture so you can see more detail and also added a close up of our (to be released Oct. '20) SmartConnec Dog holding the shop made base plate the K-5 lives on for use and storage.

Hope the upload works this time  [unsure]

Hans

[member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member]  - one more try at the re-sized picture you asked for:

Hans

PS: where can I look up upload file size limits? - and are they cumulative or per picture?

Thanks Hans.  I assume you have knobs underneath to hold the dogs down ?

When you attach a picture, right below where you select the file, you will see some criteria for uploads.

[member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member] - YES, the SmartConnect Dogs are secured from below with TSO SpeedKnobs - same Knobs you have with your TDS-10 Dog Stop.

And thanks for the pointer on the uploading guideline for the FOG [wink]
