I am a new member to the board.  I do residential construction and some light commercial work.  I was wondering if there is a difference between the TS55 Eq and a TS55 Eq Plus?  Also, I need to do some laminate work, and am wondering what you think of using a 1010 instead of a laminate trimmer?  Thanks for the advice.

The plus comes with more crap? I think they're the same it's how they're packaged that adds the plus designation.

Do you already have a good all-round router? If not, the 1010 or 1400. The lam trimmer is pretty much only good for the one task, although it's exceptional at it.

Welcome to the FOG.  There is only one model of TS55 available in the US and it comes in the Systainer (tool box).  Most of the time you'll see Festool tools not listed as plus, as Alex said the plus means the tool comes in the Systainer.  But don't worry almost all Festools come in the Systainer.  I believe only the MFK 700 basic router, OF2000 basic router and Shinex are sold without a Systainer here in the US.

I use the flush trimming stuff for the 1010 all the time. It's exceptional. Given that the 1010 can also be used as a regular router, or in conjunction with the LR-32 set, or the guide rail, there's a lot more there than just a regular router. I think that for the price of the laminate trimmer, you can get a lot of setup for the 1010 (or the 1400) that will be well beyond your expectations.
