I ma looking for a decent priced, large triangle or square to help keep my MFT in line.  I usually have it dialed in pretty well but lately, it seems to get off ever so slightly.  I like the Woodpecker framing triangle but not so much the price... and even if i wanted to pay full price, i can't get it as it is a one run tool.  Anybody have a go to framer that does the job without breaking the bank?  ++ if you can buy it on Amazon as we are a long time Prime family.

cheers all.

I've been using the Starrett framing square ($14.95) with good results
.  I also ordered the Woodpecker 18" triangle this last order.

Bryan,

I'm sure that you know the trick to use a nail set to adjust the angle of a framing square.  With that trick, you could use any square.

I wasn't aware that Starrett sold a framing square and I'd be curious to know if there's a spec for the tolerance of square.  This stainless steel framing square states an accuracy of ±0.001 radian.

This one isn't for you:  Starrett's 20"x36" precision square for $3841

I too ordered the woodpecker.  But I have an aluminum SHOP FOX that I actually really like too.  Well worth the price.

Bryan, try a place that sells hand drafting equipment.  They have plastic triangles that are different sizes that are pretty accurate and inexpensive.  I used one to square my table saw sled when I made one.

Don't know if the Woodpecker Square is still available or not for preorder, but I do know that is sure is worth it, for a lifetime of accuracy and size.  I got mine used, although you'd never know they were.  They are out there if you look...
For the table, many use Qwas Dogs for convenience and ease of use.

I have used both the qwas dogs and the woodpecker 1281. I found a very large framing square made by Empire, from Home Depot, that was surprisingly right on the money! With a couple blocks of wood and double sided tape, I now have, for me, the fastest way to true the mft cross rail.  I found that the 1281 was just a little to short for me to feel that I really had 90 degrees with the set-up. Bring your Woodpecker with you, to HD. Hope this helps

Another alternative...a few months back I wanted a large reference square.  I went on ebay and found a 24" Starrett for under $200.  It was a bit tarnished, but still true to my buddy's 24" Mitutoyo, that cost him nearly a grand.
