largest available strap clamps

the largest strap clamps i have found are the bessey ones which are 23ft long. i have three of these and find them extremely handy but i need some larger clamps for oversized projects. does anyone know of a brand that makes larger clamps?

I use the Bessey ones quite often. I bought them 14 years ago and they always seem to come to my rescue about 3 or 4 times a year.

I have not tried it but I seem to remember someone did a bit of clever stuff and used two sets of straps with one tensioning set to make an oversized strap clamp. I think he was boat building but it was a while ago. If the strapping was available then it would be easy to make up your own extended versions using the Bessey bits and pieces. It would not be beyond the wit of man to join the Bessey straps which I think is what the boat builder did.

I have used two methods to tighten wall sections together  ( I build with  SIP's that are up to 24' long), a long rope,  something to use as a anti-crush plate and a axe handle to tighten the rope. The other method is to use ratchet straps  (I prefer the flat hook style ). They both work well.

The ratchet clamp straps used for truck load restraints are rated to 2500kg and can be readily joined to any length.

Well, if you already have and/or like the Bessey, why don't you just pick up a longer piece of webbing?  1" polyester flat webbing like that used on the bessey's should run about $75 for 300 feet, if you want to order a full roll, otherwise you should be able to find it at a hardware store by the foot.

Ratchet straps are used for securing large equipment to trailers for hauling around the country. In most locales they are mandatory for safety reasons. I've used some that are 30' in length...they are probably available in longer lengths. I've used both 2" & 3" web widths.

Yep .. tie downs are the way to go!
