Thanks for posting this!  I wish that one guy at 4:25 would come over and sharpen my saws!

I was surprised that few people were wearing Dust Masks of any type or linen /cotton gloves in much of the video.  Back in the 80's when I was in the Metalworking business as a youngster, we had both on all day long due to sanding and grinding operations going on around us all the time.  The Cotton gloves were thin enough to allow easy gripping of sheetmetal and other metal items, but provided much more protection than just our bare hands.

...makes me want to buy a new saw.  [tongue]

Not that I need a new saw at all. I just want to!  [embarassed]

I'll bet y'all know that feeling  [wink]

Have a nice day.

Last Man Standing. A film by Shaun Bloodworth. Thomas Flinn & Co. The UK's last traditional saw and hand plane manufacturers. Sheffield, England....

I assume that if they are the last, that Holtey has finally retired.  Perhaps Thomas Flinn & Co. are the UK's last traditional saw and hand plane manufacturers who actually expect their tools to be used to do real work.  I just know that if I used a Holtey plane for real work, I'd drop it and reduce the value by 80% the first week.  But they are beautiful.

Interesting - a tradition of valuing craftsmanship, and quality - some of the things that I aspire to.  People who make tools with pride and quality have a lot in common with many of us.  Maybe that's why I like tools like my Lie Nielsen and Veritas planes that feel so good in hand, and why I admire the design and functionality of some newer, innovative tools - the Parf Guide System, for example.
