Well as I've said before I don't make France heirloom stuf like some of you guys do. I'm more into country style furniture. My son is going to college and needed a bookcase so I thought what could I make that would be easy to assemble and disassemble light and easy to move. We all know how much college kids move. Plus I'm shipping this to him from the UK.

So I made him a leaning ladder type bookcase. It's small about 3 ' high and 24" wide. I used dominos to apply the edge with screws to help strengthen them as they are taking  the weight of the shelves/ books

Be gentle guys

Nice.  Is that cedar?

Does it fold up for easier transportation?

Thanks it's piranha pine. I get it from a recycle yard.

No it doesn't fold, but its held together by 12 screws which are easy to remove and install. But it is so light I can't see any reason to unscrew it to move it.

Thanks I got the idea for it looking though some US sites. These seem popular. Though they are made taller. I seen one plan where using 3 of the longer ones the set side by side the middle one is used as a computer desk. A good space saving idea .

When our daughter was just out of colege and moving from condotoapartmenttocondo and not really settled anywhere, I made a set of bookshelves held together with sliding dovetails.  The back was in two pieces rabbeted into the sides and held with four screws on each piece.  It takes her longer to find a screw driver than it takes to collapse the whole thing.  She can wrap with rope, string, or a strip of velcro and throw in the back seat of her car.  I made that over twenty years ago and she still has it.
