That's some interesting looking wood. The grain is pretty wild, but the color is nothing like what I would recognize as cherry.

Very nice, like it a lot.

Noticed the Ancud carved sign in a couple of your photos.  Was lucky enough to visit Chiloe about 5 years ago, mostly on other side of island but did spend good part of a day near Ancud.  Very beautiful ocean and left wishing we had more time to spend there.
