Good day Foggers, I am looking for advise on lightening conductors and thought I’d throw it out into the diverse pool of knowledge here on the FOG.
I am in the middle of building a ‘rustic’ off grid bath house in the mountains in northern Italy, essentially a sturdy shed on stilts, clad in corrugated sheet metal with a water heating wood burner and a bath.
Having arrived here, I now realise it is high up on the mountain side and lightening storms are common. So I am wondering how I best mitigate the possibility of a lightening strike.
The cladding is aluminium, the frame is timber as are the legs/stilts. The stainless steel burner will have a stainless flu 3ft up from the roof. The flu obviously connects to the stove, that in turn heats the water inside, transferring via conduction cycle to a barrel of water, where plumbing to the bath tub will start. . .
Any advise or opinions would be welcomed as I start to look into this via google and come up with a solution.
I’ll try attach the picture of the progress, I’m only 4 days into a 10 day build right now, it’s a VERY remote location and I’m working on a small budget for a mate with my cheap tools, so don’t judge my construction too much, it’s bloody hard work [smile]
Thanks in advance to anyone who is kind enough to share their knowledge.
