It may already be old news to foggers, but I was pleased to find a new series of Protool (sister company) cordless drills at a trade show in Paris last week.  They work with Lithium Ion batteries 12-18v, ec-tec motors, centrotec and are available in basic mode, with hammer mode or as an impact driver (not out yet).  They have 4 speeds - up to about 3,000rpm and priced 400-500 euros (so when the become AINA will probably be about the same price in dollars.?!)  One neat modification was the built in belt clip, another a section on the systainer lid to store bits etc.
The guy on the stand was a bit vague but seemed to think that the batteries would be coming to festool soon.  Can't find any information anywhere else.

That's good news.

The bad news (at least for us Brits) is that the TTS Group (which owns Festool & Protool) was going to launch Protool in the UK sometime in 2008 - unfortunately it seems that these plans have now been shelved...

yet one more naina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I've been told these new cordless drills are also named quadrills but
although announced in the ExpoBois show in Paris, France, it looks
like they are not yet in the .pdf catalog, the price list and the videos.

BTW, the only English speaking Protool pages I found are athttp://www.protool.com.au/

I'm not too worried by the shape size or colour of the case.......what's the Hilti like? I imagine it's more of a 'mans' tool?

Hi,

No I wouldn't go afixin gender to tools.

But this baby would  make a man out a anybody.

From itty bitty #1 brass to lag bolts.

The inpact driver in and of itself is the most likely tool on the job

the Mrs. is going to pick up.

It is light, unobtrusive, and one minute of practice...your a successful driver.

This has more to do with its singleness of purpose,

but there it is.

As you say"But this baby would  make a man out a anybody" let's hope that as "the Mrs. is going to pick up" that it doesn't make a man of her! Unless you don't mind that type of thing!!
