What is a Longhorn chair?  It's a chair for University of Texas Longhorns!  Well, at least the color.  It's ready for nice sunset and favorite glass of wine.

Certainly a nice project for those moments when one wants to sit and sniff the breeze. Pitty the glass is empty!  [smile]

Probably get a lung full of paint fumes if the black tarp is anything to go by?  If they tried sitting in the seat in it's present location you would end up on your back and probably snap the neck off the wine glass to boot so it's probably better to just keep it for show for now ::)  I had one similar to this in the long distant past.  In my neck of the woods you have to move these pretty regularly otherwise the termites make a meal of them...(gaps in the paving) [sad]  We ended up putting tin shoes on all the feet.

The black tarp is hiding all my lumber.  The fumes from that oil based paint are pretty strong so I painted out in a wind protected area of our side yard.  Latex doesn't seem to hold up as well.

Looks nice.  Mine are made of pressure treated wood.  No rot, no bugs.

Thanks.  I working on some more using composite decking.  It's actually really easy to machine. Pluses - No splitting, no rot, no staining or painting, no need to joint or plane, easy to sand the edges when you need to.  Minuses - wood grain the face is embossed and pretty easy to mark up, it's heavy, it's expensive being more than twice the cost of wood.  However, for those who don't like taking the time to maintain their outdoor furniture, it's a good alternative.
