Hi All,

I've looked and can't really find any instructions on mounting the Festool Module Mounting CMS-OF in to my MFT/3.

I'm not rich and I'm just a DIYer and the £1500 I've spent on changing tools this year is a bit crazy, so I can't really justify the CMF 240v set of legs for just shy of £400.  Especially when the mounting is going to cost upwards of another £400.

I can roughly see that theres a few lips on the plate and I was wondering if anyone on here has accomplished the task and can post some pictures.

  Many thanks

  Lee

The CMS OF does not fit the MFT/3 at all unless you are going a "custom" "DIY" route by taking a saw to the table top to create and opening. Is that what you're asking? If anyone has modified their MFT/3 to take the CMS OF plate?

Hi Lee,

If money is really tight you could side step the CMS-OF route (for now) and not cut a hole in your MFT3 top by making your own router table add-on for the MFT3. That is what I did 4 years ago and it worked quite well. I have shown some pictures below:

Thanks for the speedy replies; Peter I really like your Videos  [big grin]

Yes I was hoping to modify an MFT/3 table top :) the ones you can pick up on ebay that are pretty much spot on, think it's about £40 + postage and I think the guy was giving away 6 dogs with that top so win win as I can always use spare dogs.  So I can keep my origonal MFT/3 work top as is, and then mod one with a hole that I can put on my old black and decker foldable work bench, which can then also be used as a feed table.

Price Breakdown:
CMS OF TOP Axminster £429.96 (Best Internet Price)
Replacement MFT/3 Top £49.99 inc postage
Total £479

Vs

Festool Basic unit CMS-GE GB 240V £390.21 + CMS OF
Total with Module £820.17

I really like the CMS OF vs the one's from Axminster or Trend as it looks better made and more accurate which for a newbie means less frustration with whatever I'm working on, plus it means that I don't have to buy a raiser for it as well which is a saving of £300.

I've seen the videos on youtube of the full system, but like I said I can't justify the almost £800 for the legs and the top.

Logically I'm thinking buy the OF top now and put it in the ebay MFT top for this year and then next year I can get the legs, and maybe the Scroll saw plate which would then be more justifiable, don't need the plunge saw module as I have a dewalt table saw.

So anyone accomplished such a task ?  The older posts have no viewable pictures so I can't see what lips are on the product.

Cheers

It's been bugging me all afternoon I know I saw something and I've refound this from this very forum.

I think that's what's needed and then route the table so it sits flush, I've got a feeling I'm going to be making alot of scrap  [big grin]
