Hi All,

I'm visiting Japan for 3 weeks, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on tool shops that might be worth visiting? I'm staying in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. I am interested in looking at some Dozuki saws, I'm not sure if they will be cheaper there....

Cheers

Ben

The best thread on this topic is probably the Japan tools thread on garage journal.  I thin superautobacs also created a thread where he documented visits to some tool stores in japan.

Japanese saws are readily available here for pretty cheap and from some name brands.  Im not sure that’s what I would hunt down.  Planes, chisels, knives and some Nepros or Koken hand tools might be on my list.

Thanks, sorry for the delay, I couldn't reply on my phone for some reason.

I'll head over to garage journal.

Visit a Tokyu Hands store... I stopped in a few and they all had a nice assortment of saws, planes, and chisels.

also its just a ridiculously awesome store.

oh and stop by Yodabashi Camera... the toy floor is ridiculously amazing.  (like actual toys, not wood working)
