I'm thinking of buying a C12 drill I was wondering about the availability of the 12v batteries, also are there plans for releasing a 12v 4.2 Ah version?

Thanks for any help!

Regards

Wade

Wade,

The C12 has been discontinued. There are no plans for an update version with a higher battery capacity. To the best of my knowledge, the C12 will not be replaced with another model. As always, we will continue to offer batteries and other accessories for discontinued products for a minimum of 7 years.

Wade UK dealers still list the C12 but with 1.5ah batteries. Have you considered the C15? It is about the same price as the C12, plus you have the 4.2ah battery option and the C15 is only 1.6kg compared to the 1.3kg of the C12.  [smile]

Apologies. I missed your location. The C12 was discontinued in the IS but may remain part of the product offerings in your country. I still wouldn't expect the battery to change. The C12 came with a lighter weight battery and that's why it's 1.5Ah.

I don't think the C12 Li is discontinued in Europe (yet).
The European Festool websites still have the C12 listed.
It's delivered with a 1,5 Ah battery which keeps it light and handy.
If necessary 3 Ah-12 V batteries can be used for longer runtime.

I don't think the C12 will be discontinued in Europe like it was in America. Biggest battery I can find for the C12 is 3,0 Ah, not 4,2 Ah.

You're right Alex, this time Shane has it wrong, which is exceptional.
There is no 4,2 Ah battery available for the 12V batteries, only 1,5 and 3 Ah.
The 4,2 Ah are only available for the 14,4 and 18V batteries.

Now wait a minute! I wasn't wrong. Ok, maybe I was.  [embarassed]

Was thinking maybe there would be a 12v 4.2Ah for the T12 potentially. But I'm not sure. Sorry. Like I said, I know the C12 had the 1.5Ah to keep the weight down.

Thanks for going into detail on the 12v question, I'm looking at and older model 3 Ah battery, with a set at a very attractive price.. I feel the lighter weight could be a real advantage for small fixing in installaion work.. having the angle, eccentric chucks and getting the depth stop chuck would be great and could be used on a C15 if I pick one of those up at a later date...
