Looking to get Fuji HVLP, gravity or siphon

Howdy folks,

Looking to get the Fuji Mini-mite 5 and wanted to ask if there are any preferences to gravity vs siphon.

I'll be investing in the 3m pps 2.0 system but don't know enough about gravity or siphon to make the decision.

Would like to know peoples experiences/opinions on either system.

With a few exceptions, I agree with Tom.
What (cabinets, furniture) with (lacquer, varnish etc.) are you planning to spray.

I'm looking to spray a variety of mediums (latex, oil, varnish, etc) and use it mostly on furniture pieces  ranging from small boxes to larger tables etc.

I purchased the gravity gun as well as the 3M PPS 2.0 system.  With the PPS you can turn the gun as you wish BUT the big thing for me is it makes clean-up easy and less time consuming.

The latex will be your nemesis. Use the Ford 4 to get the viscosity correct, warm as needed.

I have a mm4 with the gravity gun, no pps system. Only problem ive had is that after spraying lots of lacquer and thoroughly cleaning the gun a few times the cap wasnt creating a good seal and was difficult to screw on. After some research it seems the harsh solvents were warping the plastic. After a few days it went back to normal and worked fine, but it keeps happening after using lacquer. I bought an RS-1 aerojet siphon gun. Trying that on next project.

This probably wont be an issue with the pps though.

I got the Apollo 5 stage turbine and siphon feed gun years ago and never looked back it sprays from latex to the thinnest topcoats.  Siphon is just fine if you got a good jet turbine.

Congrats! I also just recieved my MM4 with T75, whip and some aircaps, looking forward to putting it through its paces.  unfortunately getting hold of PPS 2.0 in the UK is like finding unicorn teeth  :

Same here. Got the Apollo precision 5 limited. Absolutely superb. Clean up is so easy. Never looked back.

Picked up some Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane trim enamel paint and will try it out for the 1st time.

Fingers crossed, any advice would be appreciated including if I need to thin it down and if so use water or floetrol.

Can someone with the MM3 or MM4 measure the unit for me? I'm trying to see how big it is by the widest dimensions, meaning if it had to go in a rectangular box, what the absolute smallest dimensions of that box would be. Is it wider/deeper than a systainer?

Just measured my MM4 Platinum.  Case length is 13, width (deep) is 10, height is 10 to the handle w/o the gun rest on it, 11 with it on.  Of course, you still have the power cord too, andthe hoses take up a lot of room if you are going to put them in a container of some kind.

Much appreciated. In the midst of a shop makeover and I've engineered one wall to be my systainer storage and other like items. Sounds like this should fit fine.

I have my mm4 in a sys5. everything just fits! Snug but fits.

Not having any experience with HLVP or Emerald Urethane, I wasn't sure what to expect. I did thin the paint down to the consistency of skim milk and it sprayed wonderfully. Had to dial in the gun for spray pattern and pressure but once I figured that out, wow...

The PPS 2 system is awesome and the spray-gun lays the Emerald down like butter; I felt like one of those painters in car shows that's is just walking down the side of the car spraying the glossy black that brings the car to life! So far I love this machine, I'm coming from a Homeright Supermax sprayer and this kit is so much better.
