Hello,
I'm quite new to owning any festool products but have been thinking about equipping myself with a few of there tools for an upcoming project. I started by buying the hk 55 because it seems like such a versatile and handy saw. I've been using it on site now for about two weeks (I work in renovations, a little bit of everything).

I really like the way the saw performs, but I can't help but notice that it makes a lot of noise while running. It's hard to know how to describe the noise exactly, but the word "rumble" definitely comes to mind. Not the kind of sound I would immediately associate with a highly refined precision tool. It happens when the saw is under load, but also if the blade is just spinning freely, but not 100% of the time. I don't know if any of you have ever bought a vintage circular saw because of its all metal appeal, only to get it home and realize that it sounds like the bearings have been greased with mud. My hk 55 doesn't sound that bad but the sound it makes is in the same family of unsettling noises that come out of a tool. It's like a dull wurring mixed with a muffled rattling.

I'm wondering what other festool saw owners experience is in this regard. Do all festool saw rumble? Should I be taking mine to get looked at? Is it just with the hk 55? Is it no big deal what soever?

Thanks for your time,
Garrett

The noise you describe is most likely the  normal one for both the HK55 and the TS55. It is caused by the motor's power being constantly regulated to the power required.

Enjoy your new saw.    [smile]
