I'm looking for feedback before I begin this project. I've been able to build a fairly accurate Sketchup drawing of the Lovesac sactional system. The wood construction is pretty basic. The base and sides are all simple boxes. That part is all well within my comfort zone.
But, then, there's the upholstery part. The boxes are covered in vinyl and they have velcro strips to hold the covers. The cushions and pillows are stuffed and require sewing. That's a bit outside my comfort zone.
So, I'm wondering whether this is a wise project to undertake. On the one hand, I can probably build these things for about half the retail price. And, I can do some custom stuff, too. But, on the other hand, if I screw up the pillows and cushions, I just have an expensive mess.
If you've done something like this -- i.e. an upholstered couch -- do you have any words of wisdom to share?
Backstory: I'm basically selling this to the wife as a way to fund my new SawStop. I can save enough on the Lovesac to pay for the saw. Or so I think.
