Building medium size mahogany book case, and was placing shelf pin holes using 2 1400 mm LR 32 rails connected with festool connector rods.  At the connection point between the first rail and the second the hole spacing drops two about 24 mm not 32. Using 16 up and out when I flipped rail to do back side holes was off 8mm. expensive mistake. I was under the impression two of these rails could be connected to make a long 32 mm hole rail. Looks like not so much. Thoughts

Part of the Festool LR 32 System is the end-stop that you mentioned using 16 and out. It has another function of correctly spacing the holes 32mm on center at a connection. After the holy rails are connected that end stop is removed from the joint and positioned at an end of the rail. That part number is Cat. 496-938

First, welcome to the FOG.  Sorry to hear about your costly experience.  As ccarrolladams posted the stops also space the rails correctly when joining two together.  It has been mentioned on here many times before and I'll say it again, it is vital to work through the learning curve on scrap before going to expensive material.  You've learned this already, hopefully your experience will help prevent others from going through this in the future.

If you have any other questions on the LR32 we're here to help.

I forgot to add this video on joining rails.  The first part of the video shows how to connect two rails for using the track saw, the second half for the LR32, at about 4:55 or so in the video.

Thanks for finding and posting this video.  That clarifies a lot when connecting lr32 rails.
