LS 130 Eq Linear Sander

Alright guys, how can tell me how hard it is to make a custom sanding pad for the LQ130, and how fine can it be shaped to  the profile you want to sand.  I have two profiles i use alot, one is a beaded cabinet face frame, both 1/4 bead and 3/8 bead.  the other is a typical 1/4 round cabinet door frame with a ogee rasied panel.  Is this to complex of a profile to mimic on that custom sanding block kit.  I have the LQ already, but have never tried the custom kit.  And information would be great.

The only custom pad I have made  does not  make any tight  or small shapes like beads.  I didn't even need to "sand it in" just cut it with a knife and saw.

I think tight radius and corners such as the beads you are talking about will be difficult to get the paper to flex into.  I don't know for sure though. It would be great to be able to use the LS130 on beads.

First, I've never done this even though I purchased an LS 130 and real like using it. Here's how I think you do it.

Glue a sheet of sandpaper to a sample of your molding. Attach the blank pad to the LS 130 and sand it against the moulding to conform to the shape. Then attach your abrasive and you're ready to rock.

I suppose your profile will be as well defined as how well you conform the sandpaper to the original molding and what abrasive you're using. For instance, Saphir has a cloth backing and a coarse grit so it's not going to conform as nicely as Granat which has a very thin paper backing.

As much as I try to have a good knowledge about all of our products, I have to admit that I'm no expert on this. If you need more information or someone else isn't able to answer it, then I'll hit up Brian (our trainer) and get the download from him on how it works.

Thanks Shane, im not sure if it is even possiable, i make alot of cabient face frames, and it is that would be great.  I'll give this topic a few days, then maybe i'll try it. If so I will post the results, and if i get the chance a video on how ot do it.  Otherwise it is a great sander, i just bought  the ETS150, RO125, RO90, and a CT26 this month plus a few Systainers... yah for 10 % off...im broke now, but thay gota do that more offen.

I think you can definetly make the profiles you are talking about. The question is if the sand paper will fit tight enough into the bead, when actually sanding, so as not to touch the edges of the bead and round them.

This question has come up fairly often, and the answer always seems a bit sketchy. I think I have an unused kit. If so  I will try making a 3/8" bead form in the next couple days. If it works then great, I could certainly use it, if not then we know for sure how it worked out.
