Magnetic CNC engraved labels for mini-systainer stack

I've had this idea for awhile that I could CNC engrave some custom labels and use strong Neo (no, I'm even going to try to remember how to spell the whole word)  magnets to keep them in place on the sides of the systainers. I made the prototype out of some 1/4” luan plywood that I had lying around, and it seemed to work well, but using a brad point pit to drill the magnet hole resulted in a pinhole on the front though witch the epoxy leaked. Also, the full production run in luan didn’t work well. The veneer tore out where it wasn’t as strong, and of course the tabs with shared tool paths between adjacent labels didn’t hold up.

So round two was piece of 1/4” corian I had leftover. Painted it black, and then did two sided operations to have the CNC bore a flat bottomed magnet hole. This worked out very well!

I’ll just put  all the pictures below without annotations, because the FOG user interface has wore me down….

Awesome!  I really like the idea.
And magnets are cool!  Neodymium?  I think that's how you spell it.

I haven't worked with Corian, but it sounds like that would hold up much better than plywood.
I might steal your idea and make some out of walnut or cherry.  I have lots of scraps filling up my bin.
You painted the surface black which is a good idea for the contrast to the letters.  I'll have to think of an idea for mine... oh, maybe I can try out the Eye Candy epoxy colors I just ordered!

Yes, no grain tear out issues. It is really just nice dense plastic. Use regular wood bits on it.

Just an FWI, they make sheets of this kind of material for making labels. IT is very reasonable.  Looks goodm BTW

Yes, I commented on that in the original O.P., But by the time I got the forum to let me post pictures, it had wore me down and I forgot to mention it.

Thanks fritter.
It’s easy to find with a google search when you know the right words.  I didn’t think to try ‘engraving plastic’.
