I stumbled across this video on YouTube.  I never gave much thought about the level of detail that goes into this hobby....particularly rudimentary pallets.  This guy's craft is more akin to watch making than pallet making.  I wouldn't have the patience.  I especially like his homemade "chopsaw" using a razor blade for a cutter.  Looks like something BridgeCity would make.  Thought others might find interesting.

Long ago I was into that hobby. It can be very difficult to make things look real in a small scale.

Thanks for that.🙏 🙏  Really interesting because of the scale change. From a Kapex to a razor blade.  [smile]

Hand building, texturing and painting 200 HO pallets...for the average Joe, that's the equivalent of 30 days in the hole.  [eek]  You do have to admire his dedication to his art though.

I'm a big fan of model railroading, specifically the G scale stuff for the garden. However, this diorama stuff can be over the top. Saw a local film done on a local guy that was into detailing all of his engines and freight cars. He had over 250 of the things to detail. And we're not talking just road numbers...

On the diesel engines he was duplicating the soot patterns on the top of the locomotive roof & stacks.

On the box cars he was duplicating the rust patterns on the truck assemblies and also duplicating the graffiti on the sides of the freight cars. He was actually taking photos of the locomotives & freight cars to duplicate all of the markings properly. A snap shot of time memorialized on his own personal railroad.

This is me and some mates chopping wood with axes to build an N-scale railway layout.
