Because they are just making an adapter for the interface, my first thought is 18v is 18v. You could likely do something similar to any brand battery provided you know the pin out for each.

Hi!

Be very, very careful!

Many tools need more than just +- to run, and they communicate (heat, charging state, shut off, cell protection ...)

I wouldn't attempt this without knowing exactly, that certain safety features still work as intended. Sometimes it's built into the batteries, sometimes the tool ...

Some tools won't run if they can't communicate with the battery and/or identify it.

Again, be very careful playing with lithium ion batteries ...

+1 on what Oliver said, there is more to it than connecting pos to pos and neg to neg and adapting the physical interface.

What I found doing a somewhat similar experiment a couple of years ago was that some tools seem to work ok, others do not.
And the tool I had partial success with (a Ryobi inflator powered with a DeWalt battery), died after the 3rd or 4th use with the hacked battery hookup. That could have been a coincidence, but I had no way of confirming what happened.

Oliver is dead on, the period of dumb batteries and tools is long gone or disappearing fast.

Just to get in front of these discussions before they go too far.  Obviously any sort of adaption of a Festool battery for use on another tool for which it was not originally designed to work on will not have images or instructions on how to do so hosted on this forum.  Same thing goes the reverse way (other brand battery on Festool tool.)
