Does anyone here have one of the Makita plunge saws ?

I have a few Festool tools in systainers but I want to put all my Makita Li-ion drills into one big systainer and I noticed that the Makita saw comes in a systainer style box. Is the box compatible with Festool systainers I cannot find pictures of it anywhere to check the only pics I can find show metal clips on the lid and not the plastic ones like the Festool (Tanos) ones.

I saw those cases with Makita Track Saws in Berlin in December 2007.  Yes, they looked exactly like Festool Systainers, except for the colors of the plastic components.

I, too, will be very interested to see what you receive for that price, or if you get a call from the dealer explaining that a mistake has occurred.

I could use a couple of extra Systainers, but if I have to pay near Festool prices, I will pay the difference and buy Festool units from a Festool dealer.

I called and they told me it was for the sticker.  Hard to believe...they have a part number for a sticker....with an MSRP of $33 or whatever it was.  They also said Makita plunge saw stuff was back ordered due to big demand...for what it's worth.

I will let you know what I get.  I figured that since the part number was the same as on the Makita website, I at least had a good argument to return them.  If not, I will have some nice, new, and very expensive Makita stickers.  Since I ordered them, Makita has removed the direct link from their site, and Ace Tool has removed the part from their site.  I am taking that as a good sign.

I already got an email stating that they were out of stock and not expected until next week.

I figured I could put some of the good ideas gained from the Tool Organizer thread (thanks to Frank Pellow, et al) to use, and make a couple of hand-tool systainers that are easy to spot.

I wish Festool or Tanos would sell a bigger selection here in the US, I know they place you can order from in Europe, but the shipping prices are insane.  I would buy more if I could get the different colors and latches.  I like the one that is for the Fein Multity Master, but the shipping is twice the cost of the insert.

I am with you.  My wife and I have been thinking about a trip to Germany.  I am working out a plan to travel over with our belongings in garbage bags, and return with everything packed neatly in Systainers.

That would be the way to go. I magine the look on peoples faces when you check in a 33 gal., and a 55 gal. bag in.

The Makita tools on sale in my local dealer are in "systainers". BUT they are NOT a genuine Tanos item. They have the metal clips that joiner has already mentioned, what's the catch you ask. They DON'T clip together. For me that 'kinda defeats the object!!!

I have orderded Tanos systainers from Germany in the past. The accompanying cataloge listed makita as a manufacturer that they supplied. Maybe there has been a falling out since? Something to do with the plungesaw maybe?

I have travelled several times with systainers as the bulk of my "luggage".  Travel has been on trains, busses, and planes and the systainers have been both checked and carry-on with all three modes of travel.

I find that the Maxi Systainer works very well in this role.  I own one of these and someday will probably buy another.

You could just use soft-sided luggage like gym bags on the way there and fold them up on the way back.

That is really what I was thinking.  I just still have to work on the pitch to the spouse.

I had a makita track saw, Have since replaced with festool ts55. Any way the systainer for makita was same in every colour. Clipped together with my other systainers perfectly.

Good to hear that, the not clipping together part scared me a bit. The lithium ion makita drills are sold in systainers in Holland now, and if their jigsaw with the ledlight is bundled with their tracksaw it comes in a systainer aswell.
Since we own a few of the impact drivers and a jigsaw I was planning on ordering the makita systainer for those tools. (One of the cases for the impacts broke (first the transparant box in the cover) and altough it's possible to order the other makita cases, my dealer said they couldn't get the one for the impact. (I asked for the transparant lid, and he told me it was already hard to get the entire case)

I'm not clear whether you have found a picture of the box with metal clips. If you have, can you post it here, or give a link to it so that we can see what it looks like?

I reckon Makita packages their products in different ways, depending on country of sale. The following photo, taken from a German site, clearly shows that the Makita SP6000K plunge saw comes with a Systainer-type container, and I have no doubt that this will happily clip to the standard Festool Systainers that we know and love!

However I suspect that in the UK, for example, they might come in a different case. joiner1970 is based in the UK, and he's seen a box with metal clips. The only other FOG member who has seen the box with metal clips is sweet, and he too is from the UK!

Forrest, the photos in your post above are exactly what I saw December 2007 at a dealer in Berlin.  Problem was that my German language skills and the English language skills of the only employee working the store that day (Friday preceding Christmas) prevented having much communication about anything.

I am from the UK and thats exactly the same box as mine clips and all. I wonder if its a new thing with metal clips cause mine was about 18 months ago.

Bosch do systainers aswell i tink all systainers fit each other so yes i tink the makita will also fit festools and the tanos i have some festool and tanos boxes. Seen as Tanos do some good systainers.
