I had this posted in the wrong section so moved here, will use it to document my workshop build/conversion of a double garage
The garage has up and over doors at the front, I am working on bi-fold wood doors which will be covered in a future thread. The garage is single story with an pitched roof, so the first stage was to get the attic ready for storage
Original joists were flimsy and only intended as ties for the roof truss, although previous owner had boarded out
[attachthumb=#]
Here is the view upstairs, its about 4m x 4m with a high apex so perfect for storage
[attachthumb=#]
New joists I put in 9"x3", they were bloody heavy as still very wet from tanalising, at about 400mm centres
[attachthumb=#]
My eBay acquisition, 70sq m of 22mm solid beech Junkers flooring (came in at £7sqm so cheaper than ply nearly)
[attachthumb=#]
Floor laid, as its tongue and groove and quite decent lengths does a good job at spreading load
[attachthumb=#]
Another view, you can see the original truss work was cut out, now just the upstands on the purlin
[attachthumb=#]
Varnish applied, ready to fill up with junk
