Hi all, just about to order my first festool and can't wait. However I wanted to know what is the thickest possible blade that can be used on the either the TS 55 or TS 75?

I wanted to use some special grooving/router saw blades and they are about 8.5mm thick.

I planned to build my workflow around the festool track system but want to know if the speciality work blades will fit without catching on the safety casing/riving knife parts.

Can anyone with the saws or knowledge please help  [sad] [sad]

Hi aidan,

Welcome to the FOG !  [smile]

My initial reaction is that those blades would be a bad idea in the TS55/75. I think it would be running pretty close to the housing, and may have interaction problems with the rails. Are they normally used in  hand held saws? Do you have some pics or a link to the blades?

It sounds pretty odd to me, also.

As Seth recommended, can you please provide more information?

No way can you run such thick blades on a handheld saw. That's very unsafe and asking for trouble. It's even forbidden in Europe, UK included. Saws like the TS55/75 are for blades with a maximum thickness of about 3.2 mm.

thanks for the reply guys. if you look for milling cutters or so you will find the kind of blades I am talking about. some of them are for use in panel saws but can be used on some circular saws (provided they don't interfere with housing - this is what i was worried about)
