I don't get why it is under the Masterforce label either.  The warranty is lifetime replacement. IIRC $20 to $40 less depending on size.

I had a buddy that sent his Stablia in for warrenty work, the cost of shipping was half the cost of a new level!  If I could wait for them to fix it, i would send it in.  If not, I would just replace it myself...

'Just curious, Dave...

What went wrong with your friend's Stabila? Was it a level? Based on your shipping comment, I'm guessing it was a long level.

It was a 4' level.  He dropped it from 12' off the ground which in return twisted it.

This happened years ago and they fixed it.  I'm not exactly sure what the problem was but thats how I took his description.  I have 3 stablia levels - 48",24", torpedo,  what is covered?

Spirit Levels:
The vials will not fog, leak, or become inaccurate. If they do, you will be given a new level.
Bent frames void warranty.

Lasers & Tech Levels:
Stabila will repair, without charge, any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for 2 years from date of purchase.

Dave:

I'm assuming you are talking about spirit levels. They are incredibly tough but everything has its limits. What they are covering is the accuracy and utility of the vials assuming you don't do something that ruins the level. I heard about a guy who ran his truck over a level and it was still perfect. So he did it again and again and finally he bent the frame. His was not covered... Then again, that story probably belongs under the category, "urban legend".

The lumber yard I buy my 'Bila's at lets you bring a defective one back to them and grab a new one off the shelf and be on your merry way.

No prying with a 'Bila.

I've been to some tool demos at the lumber yard, and the Stabila rep was throwing the levels down the parking lot, then bringing them back to the demo table and comparing them with the "non-abused" levels.  It was a convincing demonstation when they all remained accurate. ;D

We have 9 Stabilas that range in length from 8" to 8'.  The only one that every went out of service was one that was burned in half.  The crazy ex-boyfriend of my customer set her kitchen on fire and the accelerant he used burned the end off of my 4' Stabila. The Fire Marshal confiscated it for evidence so I never filed a warranty claim  ;D .

I think that all of the previous comments agree:

Stabila levels are virtually unbreakable.

Anyone can break anything...

My Dad use to have a saying. He would say it about some wild kids that needed some dicipline, but he would say "those kids could tear up a steel ball". That would be hard to do, but I bet they could do it.

I definitely could :) Been playing with an angle grinder since I was 8.

I hate to try to pull this thread back on topic , but....  ;D

Anyone know if these are genuine Stabilla levels or are they some kind of knockoffs?

Does that mean $20-$40 less than the equivalent Stabilla level? Or $20-$40 overall?

As to knock off or origional..
There is nothing on the paper or the level it self stating made by stabilla.
But
1 they are made in Germany
2 they have the same lifetime warranty
3 they have the exact same end cap (minus the stabilla name and green rather than white) with little red rubber grippers as my older stabs have
4 they have exact same vials
5 they have the same aluminum extrusions (color is gray rather than yellow)

So if it is a "knock off" it seems to be a good one.  that is the price off the same size amazon stabila price

Actual it is in writing. Ask a salesmen to see a brochure for the levels. It says made by Stabila right in there! I have no idea why they would want to put their levels under someone else's name...But they are
