Metric Dowels

I can't find good quality metric dowels (10mm x 50mm) for my Mafell doweler.

Are there Imperial cutters for this machine?

Don't believe any true SAE DD40 drills exist.

Have you tried any 3/8" dowels from the hardware store to see if they might work ?  Depending on the source and tolerances, they just might be for 10mm anyway.

I found the dowels on EBay. The other sites require a $150 minimum order.
