MFT 8x4 CAD file with Veritas Parf Dogs fitment

I'm about the spend the best part of £100 having one of these cut using the CAD file kindly supplied by one of the forum members:

Has anyone else used this file? If so, will it provide a good fit for Veritas Parf Dogs?

Out of interest, are there any other 8x4 CAD files available with a different design e.g. containing clamping slots like the multifunction slab?

If you are somewhat computer-competent you could draw (adapt) your own cad. I use Adobe Illustrator (which I have had for many years, ever since version 88), but I hear that Inkscape is a pretty good substitute and a lot cheaper. There actually may be a trial version of it.

Why don't you buy Peter's Parf Guide System? It's also £100 and you'll be able to cut your own tops forever!

I second the vote for Peter's Parf Guide system. Once into the system, you will want to make others specific to different layouts and sizes.  The only problem I see is that I need to keep a calendar schedule. When I brag about it to friends, they line up to borrow it and invite themselves over to make what they need in in my shop.

BTW. Watch the weight of the MFT Sheet. Find out the weight before selecting. My first MFT was far too heavy and was made from 1 inch stock.

[member=49013]clark_fork[/member] I wish I had read your response before I ordered my MDF. I bought a 1220mm x 2440mm x 25mm sheet of Medite moisture resistant. It weighs an absolute ton! Hopefully once I've drilled all the holes it'll reduce the weight by 40kg

In my version, I have hand holds, a hose hold and some slots for end clamps. These additional cuttings may help reduce the weight as well as make moving the MFT more manageable. I also have a thin sheet that is a "sacrifice" item when I am finishing, gluing etc. I have a limited number of holes just to hold it in place.  I would then, recommend thinner stock with a "sacrifice" overlay, also with hand holes to make the process easier to manage.
