When I started down this slippery slope I could not justify the cost of another router. I have four, Bosch, Bosch trim, Dewalt, and PC. I was however, enamored with the use of the guide rail. Enter Microfence... I figured I could use the Microfence Festo Slide Interface and make it applicable to any of my routers. At first I was a little disappointed with the setup due to a small amount of slop in the UHMW piece that actually slides on the guide rail. Well I solved that today. I added two nylon tipped set screws to the slide (drilled and tapped two 8x32 holes). I am pleased to report the unit is quite rigid now. I also added two limit stops (491582) to the setup.

I hope the pictures work

Nice setup Rich.  Thanks for the report and the pics.  I actually just called Microfence a couple of days ago about the options for using their system with my OF1400.  I use the Microfence with my DeWalt 621 and 618.  I found out that the fence and rail adapters (including circle jig) will just about double the cost of the 1400 for me (I bought mine when they first came out).  I'm wondering what added benefit the Microfence brings me on the rail compared with the Festool fine adjuster.  Your thoughts?

Thanks

Dave

As I said I have a number of routers (dedicated for different uses). For me the cost of adding a Festool router and micro adjuster could not be justified. The Microfence is every bit, as well designed and accurate as Festool products. The added benefit of being able to use it with my other tools, the range of attachments, and the quality of the pieces is what sold me. It is not cheap but, as we know you get what you pay for.
