I just got the Kapex last week.(for the second time)But i'm pretty sure that I'm keeping it this time.My only concern now is what to use for a stand.
I do have a MFT 1080 but it stays in my shop.A little too big to take to job site.I also have a couple miter saw stands made by BOSCH.
One of them i don't like. The other is the gravity rise stand witch is very nice,BUT,    IT IS BIG AND HEAVY!!!  That's right too big to fit in my truck(unless i take everything out!) And the Kapex does not fit right. The saw sits too far back so if you have a pc of wood on it,it might not rest on the support arms.
So my question is,Does anyone uses the MFT Kapex on job site? Is it easy to haul around? What do you use for extra support?(extention support)
How do you like it?

congrats on the purchase, im not a kapex owner yet, but did you get the kapex and mft as a package?? i know its a few $ savings!

better luck with this one !

I have the MFT/Kapex, I don't use it much for with the Kapex (Ive got a Sawhelper). The MFT/Kapex is pretty easy to carry around, although, I'd say it's is a bit heavy for it's size. I have no good recommendation for extensions.

Ive been hearing alot of people trying to get the saw helper system, but no luck!!

I plan on using my Trac Rac stand when i purchase a kapex, its light, easy to set up,takes little room in the truck, and the extensions are firm and easy to adjust!

Yes, the Sawhelper stands aren't in production anymore (too bad). I have the Hitachi version of the Trac Rac stand. I picked it up maybe 7 or 8 years ago (maybe more) at Lowes on clearance. I'm not a big fan of it but for the price I paid it has worked out pretty well for. You are right, it is light and doesn't take up a lot of room.

I use the kapex mft for mine. I find that it is really handy
to use for stuff besides setting my saw on. I use my mft3
for support or the ridgid flip support stands work well.
I would like to have the extensions for my kapex but,
I can't seem to commit to them yet though.
I use my saw more on the floor then I do on the table.
I still want to put wheels on the kapex table, just haven't
had the time to rig something up yet.

Of course, if you don't mind waiting Festool has the new Kapex stand/extensions being released in Europe soon. Who knows if or when it will come here to the States.

So far the pictures of that stand are not real impressive.

Has anyone used the saw stand made by Trojan products. It has wheels and looks fairly compact.

I hope none of those big wigs buys saw helper and puts out a crappy version of it!! then it will be in lowes and HD so every diy guys will buy it for 129.99

I never owned one but i have seen one at a show and it looked well made!

the other day i saw at lowes the delta stands with the porta cable branding on them!! guess delta is done??

No,Delta is not done. This is what i think.Delta and PC are the same company. They are putting tools that looks like Delta but with PC name on it.
So far i have seen planer, jointer, drill press.band saw with the PC name on it,even a job site table saw,but a copy of Delta.
The Delta small tools(not their industrial tools)was never all that great. They were okay.So maybe if they put a different name on it,buyers will feel more comfortable with the Porter-Cable name on it?
Kind of what Black&Decker did with DeWalt back in early 90's.
But Delta still makes cabinet saw, radial arm saw,etc...etc....large tools.

Yes, I have my DW708 on the Trojan Stand.  I also have the extra extension that I can put on either side.  The Trojan stand makes a heavy saw fairly portable.

I have been angling to sell my Dewalt and buy the Kapex.  I was then going to buy the Sawhelper for it.  Now it may be too late, so I may keep the Trojan when I buy a KAPEX.  IMO, the precise setup and measuring capabilities of the Sawhelper wings is its big advantage.  The Trojan's portability is its one advantage.

How are the standard extensions that come with the stand? Are they prtetty sturdy?  I have not seen on in person, but that was my only concern.  Do you have the standard stand or the wide stand with the flared legs?

Hi,

I have a few pictures of the new 2010 Festool stand for the Kapex that I pulled off a dealers site in the Netherlands. Does anyone know if I'm allowed to post them on here or would that be an infringement?

Thanks for asking. I'm checking the situation at the moment and will get back to you.

Yup - go for it! Let's see what you've found!

However bear in mind that some photos have already appeared in the thread New Festool C15, C12 and CARVEX . Because the subject of the thread doesn't mention the Kapex stand, you might have missed them.

Hi Forrest,

Thanks for checking it out and also for letting me know about the thread. Yes I missed it and the two pictures have already been posted on there.

Wheels look alittle cheap and plastic, doesnt look like it can handle getting up a gravel driveway on a new construction site!

Have you looked at the HTC PM7000?  I have an older version and it works well for my PC miter saw but I have not tried the Kapex since I got the MFT/Kapex.  I don't take mine out of the shop.  The PM7000 has wheels to help move it around but it is large and very well built.

edit:They also have a PM5000 that looks much lighter and would fit your needs better.
