hello everyone i'm new to festool, i would like to build an mft table, any suggestion would be appreciated, i just bought a ts55 but dont have money for the table so i thought why not build one, it does not look all that hard, what do you guy think?

Hey there, welcome to the FOG. Check the search bar out there is a ton of ideas and pictures on the site that'll help you out with your plans! For me I ended up getting the MFT3 set and am looking to build a modified table at some point.

Welcome to the FOG baccai!  Another option is to purchase the top only and make your own table.

You can use rail and regular dogs for stops and alignment issues and I find they're more

effective than the Festool miter gauge.

Congrats on your TS55 purchase it's a wise investment.

G'day!
Regarding your question: yes, indeed it's possible and probably cheaper to build you own MFT. But to use it at its best, i recommend you either buy the top with the hole-pattern from Festool or you have the top CNC'd if you would like a bigger surface. The beauty of the MFT lies in the fact that the holes can be used with so-called benchdogs and so make it very easy to line up the rail for 90/45 deg. cuts. There's lots of videos out there to get more info.
One feature i use much more often now is the t-slots on all 4 sides of the original table. Of course one can use t-slots of other producers instead of the original ones.
Good luck with your project and don't forget to post the results!

hello, does anyone knows where i can get the rail that festool use on the mft ? thank you!

Any dealer can get it for you.

The MFT comes with a 1080mm rail (491504), but they range in size from 800mm to 5000mm

The guiderail for the saw, or the 'rail' profile that is the edge of the actual table?

The hdf,not MDF, used & the parts you buy, will put you over half way towards the complete table. fact the basic table is not as cost efficient as deluxe,do the math on the parts, something along the lines of buy the rail ,rest is free

As mentioned twice earlier the dogs and long dogs can be used and then you put the rail against those, or attach the long dogs to the rail.
the pivot hinge is pretty much redundant with dogs if your work flow adjusts.

What I did was buy a different manufacturer's rail that was 1.6-m long, and cut it and attached it where the FT rail goes.
One could buy a 5m FT rail and cut a meter off of it if they wanted to.

I think you need the Makita or the FT rail for a FT saw.
TYou need ~1.6m for a 1220 plywood cut. And one needs ~3M for the 2.44 (8') side.
From memory the FT rail for the MFT was ~900-mm to a meter... Or maybe 1050.

Two 3M FT rails will allow for:
1 to be used for long rip cuts on sheets
1 for cross cuts at ~1.6-2M,
and a remainder piece for an MFT which is ~900-1100-mm.

I use an old fold up table as often as an MFT.
If you build a table you probably want 4x8' or larger... depending on what you do.
