I've been doing a lot of little projects on a second hand mft 1080. Its making my projects easy and totally revolutionizing my accuracy. (I don't have a shop). I'm so excited about the mft tables i'm already looking at the newer mft/3. My understanding is that the extension wings that came with my 1080 will not fit the mft/3 and there are no extension wings available for the mft/3. Is this correct?

Anyone on the fence about this tool... I can't really explain it, but use one for a few days and you'll be a firm believer.

I think someone was looking to trade an MFT/3 for an MFT-1080 so if that's where you want to go, you may be in luck!  Search around; I can't find it right now, but know it wasn't in Classified because it became a thread.

YOu can modify the exension wings to fit an MFT/3 by adding a plywood shim -- this will make the aluminum plate even with the MFT/3 top.  The folding leg will fit the MFT/3 leg -- there is some play, but you could easily make a wooden washer or use something soft to take up the slop.  I use one on my MFT/3 but just let the leg connect as is and it seems to work fine.

You could also buy the UG extensions that are for the Kapex.  They will also mount to the MFT/3 because they are the same height.
