Miter Saw Station - Clearvue CV06 & Kapex

Here's an update video to my Miter Saw Station I've been building over christmas break, unfortunately I had to start over from scratch because of a few reason I explain in the video.

The main reason I wanted to post this video on here was to show how well the Kapex works with the Clearvue CV06 attached to my Midi with extremely short 36mm hose lengths.

Thanks, my shop has taken on a lot of green tools these last 2 years, I guess I had some green cool-aid and liked it! lol I enjoy making the videos as well, I just wish I had more time to do more of them. I plan on doing a vlog series on my custom office built in I plan on building in a couple months.

Lance, sorry to get off topic, but I'm curious to get your thoughts on the Laguna dust collector you're using.  I currently use the 1.5hp Jet canister DC.  It has served me well, but I've been thinking about upgrading to a cylone.

The Laguna is really powerful, over all I really like the unit, it's prefect size for a small shop and it comes with a lot features and power to move the dust. The only negative I have is that it's not the best at separating, when I use my helical cutter on my jointer/planer machine the chips seem to make there way past the cyclone and the filter into the 2nd stage bag. This seems to happen with this machine only, I don't know if it's the type of chips the helical cutter is creating but a lot of them make it past the cyclone. All in all i'm happy with my permeant ducting and the laguna DC. I'd rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Hope this helps.

Interesting that the discussion moved to dust collection. I'm trying to think through this right now, and would really like to have a CT dedicated to my kapex, but find it hard to justify with a 1.5HP DC, CT midi, and shop vac. I have the kapex hooked up to the DC, but am not getting the incredible performance I see in your video. I want to keep the CT mobile for router, domino, and sanding b

I highly recommend the Midi strictly for the Kapex. My Midi never comes out of the Miter Saw Station. However I do own a 16 foot 36mm hose that I can attached to the Clearvue to use with my Domino, TS55 and my OF1400 around my Miter Saw and assembly table. Therefore I'm getting more use out of my additional CT Midi I bought eliminating the need to move my other CT 26 I own to the front of the shop. My CT 26 has the boom arm and primarily stays next to my MFT/3 table. I've thought about this design for over 2 years now, and I really think this is the best solution for the space I have. The Clearvue CV06 just eliminates me buying bags at $8 a piece, and the Kapex will fill them up quick. Hope that helps.

So if you're taking the HEPA dust filtering of the Festool CT out of the equation, wouldn't it be more economical to just use an inexpensive shop vac to provide the suction, and get an aftermarket triggering system?

Sae, that would be the most economical solution, however I already owned the Midi, and it's nice to own a small CT vac to take in the house for small jobs or even on commission work. Depending on your situation and those needs would tell you weather or not to buy another CT for the the Kapex alone.

It's funny you said that about the light, I actually was thinking about doing that before I started building my station. Never got around to adding it and probably wont, however I think it would be a cool little feature if someone did. Thanks, I just got those Knipex for Christmas, already used a couple and I love them!

For squaring, I would measure the diagonals before bracing or adding a back. If they are equal you have 90 degree angles, if not you are not square and the angles are not 90 degrees.

Great job. Really well thought out. I love my kapex too.i use the ugcart set up. Its in and out of the shop as 1/2 of my work is installing  what i build. I will buy a second kapexand build a cut station and base it with a bunch of your smart design features. L9ve the cyclone.
