Modifying an older MIDI

Hi all,

I have a 2017 Midi (I think), unfortunately the last model before the nicer hose. I would really like to modify it to work with the bluetooth kit and also to make the "off" position of the switch to pass power through. Is there anyone who has done this? Looking for advice and/or pictures.

You could try and take the Bluetooth module of the CT26 and add it to the Midi.

As for the switch to let power pass through, I don't see how you can do that without modifying the switch, which is a single enclosed unit. You could always add a second outlet which is permanently connected to power.

That was my thought. Did anyone try this yet? Any tips or issues I might run into?

That's a good alternative.

[member=191]Rick Christopherson[/member]  who did the remote control kit for the older vacs said it was not possible to use with the Midi.

Your best bet might be one that just plugs into the power cord for remote control.  Lee Valley offered one that I used before moving to Bluetooth on my CT26.  I can't find it on their site now.

But here's one from Amazon -https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Fos...uded/dp/B072F9DGRL/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=remote+control+power+outlet&qid=1559067155&s=gateway&sr=8-3

You must be aware of the power rating of these types of switches, I have already looked into it myself and I could not find one in 220v country that could do more than 1000 watts, so unsuitable for my power needs of a vac and a tool together.

Any clue as to why the bluetooth kit wouldn't work on the Midi? I mean I know there's no slot for it but it's just a remote operated relay switch, right?

Just guessing here but the switch is probably not a stand-alone switch but has to work together with components on the circuit board of the big vacs, components the Midi's circuit board lacks.
