[size=13pt]Firstly my apologies to the many who create a box mitre joint every day.

This afternoon AEST, I had to make a simple L shaped pipe cover to fit under a sink. I could have made it simple, but why not use the opportunity to try a mitre box joint for the first time using a TS55 and Domino 500.  [eek]

The photographs relate to the dry fit. Wonder if I can get as good or better result when using some rare or expensive materials?  [scared]  [embarassed]

Materials/Tools - TS55 with 48 tooth blade and 1400 rail, D500, 3/4mm Dominos, 16mm Melamine off cuts
and when glued Titebond 111.

Nice job.

Isn't it great how we approach some of these things with such trepidation and yet the tools end up making it so easy?  [big grin]

I used to hate doing mortice and tenon joints they took so long if you have lots of them to do. So I bought an XL-700 and now I like doing them as it's really quick and super easy. I think the Domino may be the greatest time saver/money maker woodworking tool I own. Or perhaps it's the TS-55R and lots of guide rails. Or 2 x MFT/3s with an OF1010 and TS-55R. I really like lots of their sanders too and I love my SYM-70 as well.
All of them are world class fantastic tools, but I can't be a Festool fanboy as I'd have a Carvex as well if I was.

That sure is a nice box mitre joint. I guess quality work with all the advanced tools becomes a matter of routine.. Not a bad thing, but makes me think it's time for some bold innovations in design .

Nothing better than when a tool lives up to its reputation and allows you to do things you were once scared of.  Great work and looking forward to your more exotic wood pieces  [wink]

[size=13pt]Thank you all for your encouraging comments. It was probably beginners luck; the nerves will really take over soon on a forthcoming project.  [eek][size=10pt]
